You shouldn’t have to be an expert in special education to be an informed, confident parent.

For more than 22 years, I’ve worked in special education supporting students and families across elementary, middle, and high school. I’ve written and implemented IEPs, participated in PPT meetings, interpreted evaluations, developed goals and accommodations, monitored progress, and helped students build the skills they need to become more independent.

But throughout my career, I’ve noticed something that has stayed with me:

Parents are often expected to navigate a complicated system without ever being given a roadmap.

The terminology can be overwhelming. The meetings can feel intimidating. And when it comes to your child, it can be difficult to know what questions to ask, what information matters, or what to do when something isn’t working.

That’s why I created Table Side Education Consulting.

I believe parents should feel like informed partners at the table, not guests at the table.

My goal is to take the knowledge and perspective I’ve gained from more than two decades in special education and make it accessible, practical, and understandable for families.

Through parent education, resources, and individualized consulting, I help families:

• Understand the special education process

• Make sense of evaluations and IEPs

• Prepare for PPT and school meetings

• Identify meaningful questions and concerns
